We provide you here with a simple 4-point-plan on how to review your blinds in direct response to the specific points in this guidance and what you can do to ensure you are as safe as possible.

1. Government Guidance on surface cleaning

“Increasing the frequency of hand washing and surface cleaning.”
“Frequent cleaning of work areas and equipment between uses, using your usual cleaning products.”
“Frequent cleaning of objects and surfaces that are touched regularly, such as door handles and keyboards, and making sure there are adequate disposal arrangements.”

NEED: CLEANING BLINDS REGULARLY

SOLUTIONS:
✓ Test a small area of a blind to see if you can clean them without damage
✓ See if the chains and handles can be cleaned regularly
✓ Ask InterLace to assess your blinds and supply a free report on how to manage and clean them as hygienically as possible

2. Government Guidance on reducing time taken to carry out activities

“Keeping the activity time involved as short as possible.”

NEED: MAKE BLINDS QUICKER TO USE, ALSO TOUCHING THEM LESS

SOLUTIONS:
✓ Designate one building or office manager to operate the blinds instead of members of staff
✓ Decide what blinds can be motorised removing the need to touch blinds at all.
✓ Ask InterLace to assess your blinds and supply a free report on how to manage the operation and shading strategy for your premises

3. Government Guidance
“Using screens or barriers to separate people from each other.”
“Installing screens to protect staff in receptions or similar areas.”

NEED: USING SCREENS OR BARRIERS TO SEPARATE PEOPLE
SOLUTIONS:
✓ Reorganise your office to maximise your potential to socially distance staff.
✓ Assess where you need screens and barriers, and whether they should be clear allowing a view through, or they will be solid like partition walls.
✓ Ask InterLace to assess your revised plan with you via Zoom meeting and supply a free report on the minimum advisable screening you could consider.

4. Government Guidance
“Opening windows and doors frequently to encourage ventilation, where possible.”

NEED: INCREASING VENTILATION AND STILL USING YOUR BLINDS

SOLUTIONS:
✓ Identify which windows you want to have open and how much glare and discomfort comes in through those windows affecting the staff nearby
✓ Check your blinds can work without damage, or distracting rattling with windows open behind them, and change / adapt where possible.
✓ Decide what blinds can be motorised removing the need to touch blinds at all.
✓ Ask InterLace to assess your blinds and premises and supply a free report on how to maximise ventilation while ensuring you maintain sufficient shading for staff.
