Gates Cambridge Scholars’ Common Room Cambridge
The Gates Cambridge Scholars’ Common Room forms part of the University Centre on Granta Place, Mill Lane, overlooking Cambridge’s Mill Pond. The room is used by Gates Cambridge Scholars — graduate students at the University of Cambridge supported by the Gates Cambridge Trust — as a social and study hub, and is arranged into distinct zones including a quiet study area, a group work space, and a social area with informal seating.
The refurbishment was carried out by a Cambridge-based interior design and fit-out company, with the aim of creating a space that reflected the Gates Cambridge Trust’s branding while improving the room’s practical function for Scholars in residence.
As part of the works, we supplied and installed roller blinds and curtains throughout the common room. The floor-to-ceiling glazing around the space made effective light and privacy control a key consideration, and the finished window treatments were specified to work alongside the room’s redesigned social and study areas.
